Donetsk: Local secretary of the Communist Party tortured and killed by National Guard

The secretary of the primary party organization of the Communist Party of Ukraine in the village of Glinky, the member of the village council of the Starobeshevo district of the Donetsk region Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Kovshun, born in 1956, was tortured to death at the National Guard checkpoint near the village Luzhky.

A phone link to him broke up during the night of July 22nd. And in the morning the tortured body of a communist with numerous bruises and gunshot wounds to the legs and to the chest was discovered in a pool of blood. Vyacheslav Mikhailovich, as a member of the Communist Party, received threats to his life many times, but did not believe that he can be killed for his convictions to the very end. V.M. Kovshun was distinguished not only by his trust and dedication to the communist ideals but also by his active position in life, high human qualities. He was deeply respected by his comrades and fellow villagers, who entrusted him the leadership of the Public Committee of Kumachov Village Council, which united 9 villages.

The Donetsk Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine expresses deep condolences to the relatives and people close to the perished, who became a victim of a cruel crime, and demands initiating criminal case towards the killers from the law enforcement, because nobody among the guilty in this heinous act is yet brought to justice.
