Dozens of protesters from the Euskadi-Donbass committee staged a demonstration during the Ukraine vs USA basketball game in Bilbao on Tuesday, waving anti-US-Kiev and pro-Donbass flags and banners. The protest was organised by the Euskadi-Donbass Committee
One of the organiser of the protests, Jon Koldo Cebrián Martín, said that the group “…accuse the Ukrainian government of being a puppet of the USA and the EU” and went on to accuse the Ukrainian government of “…using fascist groups to aid it in its fight against the people of the East of Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian international basketball team is set to play the US on Thursday evening. Bilbao is currently holding the Basketball World Cup.
Transcript of statements by organiser Jon Koldo Cebrián: “We accuse the Ukrainian government of being a puppet of the USA and the EU and of using fascist groups to aid it in its fight against the people of the East of Ukraine.”
“What we can do in the Basque Country is try to break the media stronghold, because the Western media do not give proper coverage to the events taking place out there. They just don’t cover things decently. They’re always negative and they don’t tell the whole truth, so here what we’re trying to do is break the media-strangle and send help to the people of Donbass.”
